Morning! 😃 ☕️
Five days ago, this was just four Spanish words on a screen. Now say it out loud — all of it, from memory.
That's yours now. You didn't cram it; you grew it, one blank at a time.
In today's email…

PRACTICE WITH LOLA 🍅
Here’s what a successful day with learning Spanish looks like, and the order doesn’t matter:
-
Read the English email
-
Listen to the Spanish (follow along)
-
Then, go hang out with Lola and start working through a few things (5mins)
CULTURAL MOMENT 🍅
On the surface, "Lo prometido es deuda" is about keeping a small promise. Underneath, it holds a whole way of seeing people.
It says your word is not just talk, it's a debt with your name on it. In Spanish-speaking culture, that idea shapes friendships, family, and business. People remember who kept their word and who didn't.
It's worth sitting with the choice of "deuda," debt. The phrase could have said "a promise should be kept." Instead it says a promise IS a debt, as real as money you owe.
That turns something soft into something solid. You can feel the weight of it. That's why the phrase has lasted for generations and crossed every border where Spanish is spoken.

There's a better way to learn.
Phrase Café sends you a letter from Sara every morning, with the English under every line and her voice reading it. Then a coach walks you through it. 5 to 10 minutes a day.
